
SLAMABAD ( 2008-09-17 12:05:06 ) :The top US military officer, Admiral Mike Mullen, held talks with Pakistani leaders on Wednesday aiming to patch up ties strained by a flurry of US strikes against militants in Pakistan.
Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani was holding talks with Admiral Mullen at PM House here.
Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi and Advisor to PM on National Security Mehmood Ali Durrani are assisting prime minister in talks with the visiting US Admiral.
In charge coalition forces in Afghanistan, General Mic Kerenan and American Ambassador to Islamabad Anne W Patterson also present in the meeting.
Mullen and top Pakistani leadership holding talks to discuss ongoing military operation against militants in Pakistani tribal region bordering Afghanistan, while the recent violations of Pakistani border by US forces engaged in Afghanistan was also a part of discussion.
Earlier today, Admiral Mullen called on Chief of Army Staff General Ashfaq Pervez Kayani at GHQ Rawalpindi and discussed issues of bilateral interests and co-operation on war on terror.
Both military chiefs discussed the issues related to the war on terror and Pak-Afghan borders. Besides this, recent statements issued by the two sides regarding US attacks inside Pakistan's territory were also discussed.
General Kayani said there is not agreement or understanding between two countries which allows US to carry out attacks inside Pakistani boundary.
He made it clear that it was the sole authority of Pakistani army to launch attack inside its territorial boundaries
