Spain's Imanol Erviti of the Caisse d'Epargne team won the 167.4km (100.4-mile), 18th stage of the Tour of Spain between Valladolid and Las Rozas on Thursday. Spain's 2007 Tour de France champion and reigning Tour of Italy winner Alberto Contador holds the overall lead. Erviti, part of a group of 16 riders who broke away from the peloton, beat Irishman Nicolas Roche of Credit Agricole and Spain's David Herrero of Xacobeo Galicia in a sprint finish. The peloton, including Contador, arrived about seven and a half minutes after the breakaway group.
